It is with heavy hearts that the Ortego family announces the passing of Winnie Pearl Ortego, a resident of Ville Platte. She was born August 29, 1926 and departed this world November 26, 2016 at the age of 90.

Winnie loved life and did her best to make the most of everyday. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a 34 year member of the choir. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all.

Winnie leaves behind to cherish her memories a daughter Jennifer Kay Ortego and brother Dewey Fontenot.

Winnie joins in heaven her husband Eddie Edwin Ortego, parents Joseph and Amy Fontenot, three brothers Mathias Fontenot, Jeffery Fontenot, Edward Fontenot, and four sisters Mattie Veillon, Eve Fontenot, Laddie Cefalu, and Lana LaFleur.

A time of remembrance and reflection will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte Sunday, November 27, 2016 beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Rosary services will be at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue Monday at 9:00 am until dismissal at 12.30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Father Taj Glodd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:00 pm. Winnie will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
