VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 for Winifred Ann "Pitchy" Tuminaro, 74, who passed away on February 26, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct funeral service.
Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Pitchy was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte. She worked for many years in the office at Sacred Heart Elementary, and later at Citizens Bank for nearly 30 years. Pitchy was a devout catholic and active parishioner at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church; where she organized Perpetual Adoration for 25 years. She also served as a Pro-Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Lafayette. Many may know her from the Round and About column she wrote for the Bonne Nouvelle newspaper for 18 years.
Pitchy is survived by her three children, Joseph John Tuminaro, III and wife Tammy Tuminaro, Melissa Ann Tuminaro, and Mary Elizabeth Tuminaro; and her four grandchildren, Margeaux Rebecca Marks, Joseph John Tuminaro, IV, Samuel Luke Tuminaro, and Anna Grace Tuminaro; sisters, Helen Veillon, Sue Nassif, and Beth Fontenot; and brother, Brod Veillon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Tuminaro, Jr.; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.B. Veillon; and her sister, Norma Jean Veillon Dowell.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
