VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Ville Plate for Wilda Marie Walker, 95, who passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Pastor Kevin West will officiate services.
Burial will take place in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Bayou Chicot.
Wilda Walker was born in Ville Platte on October 21, 1925 to Avie Fontenot and Atile Vidrine. Wilda was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Raising her family was her greatest joy. It’s hard to fully describe how amazing a person she was. She was truly blessed with humor, awesome cooking skills, and the heart of a lion. Possessing a gentle and kind spirit, she loved unconditionally and never treated anyone differently, no matter what they had done or been through. She always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone with a big hug. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those she loved.
Wilda is survived by her three sons, Kenneth R. Walker and wife, Glenda of Ville Platte, Robert O. Walker and wife, Georgia of Meridian, Mississippi, and Anthony L. Walker and wife, Jennifer of Ville Platte; ten grandchildren, Wendy Dupre, Donavan Walker, Kayla Latiolais, Brandy Walker, Lee Ann Swartzentruber, Will Uithoven, Ashley Walker, Cassie Shackleton, Jack D. Walker, and Joseph W. Walker; and 18 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Walker, Jr. and parents Avie and Atile Vidrine Fontenot.
The family requests that a visitation be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Ville Platte beginning at 12:00 PM until time of service.
