It is with great sadness that the family of Victor J. Vic Maddie announces his passing on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at St. Joseph Carpenter House of Baton Rouge at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Atchafalaya Presbyterian Church in Bayou Current. Rite of Committal will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas with Pastor Paul McHenry officiating.
Vic is a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII. He was with Company L 104th Infantry Regiment 26th Infantry Division serving under General Patton in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Maddie received several decorations and citations including Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and American Theater Service Medal. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 2483.
Vic will be lovingly remember by all who knew and loved him especially his sister, Lena Maddie Gerace of Opelousas two nephews, J.T. Walton, Jr. of Melville and Robert and wife, Janice Gerace of Lafayette.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Vola Glyn Maddie parents, Joseph and Josephine Maddie and a brother in law, Johnny Gerace.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at the LafondArdoin Chapel in Melville Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
