VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, for Versie Daire LaFleur, 94, who passed away on August 15, 2018 in Ville Platte.

Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in the M.B. Fontenot Cemetery in Ville Platte, LA.

Versie was born by midwife on January 21, 1924 in Ville Platte, LA. Being the second of nine children, she was instrumental in raising her brothers and sisters. After graduating from Ville Platte High School, she moved to Orange Texas with her sister to work in the shipyards as a timekeeper during World War II. On December 29, 1945 she married the love of her life after he returned victorious from the war. She was a stay at home mom who did an excellent job raising her children. At the age of 50 she decided to go to cosmetology college. Upon graduation she opened Versie's Beauty Shop in her home. She worked for many years as a beautician. After retiring from the beauty industry, she went to work for the Council on aging for several years. Her family was her life she took great pride in taking excellent care of all of them. She loved taking care of her family, the elderly and she absolutely loved babies. When she wasn't taking care of others she enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden and raising her chickens. She will be sadly missed by all those who lovingly adored this great lady.

Versie is survived by her daughters, Darla Daire and husband Mike of Ville Platte and Molly Charrier of Hessmer; son Charles Lafleur of Baton Rouge; two grandsons Jacques Charrier of Hessmer and Jake Daire wife Alaina of Ville Platte; great granddaughter Raelyn Daire "Lil Toot"; two brothers, John L. Daire of Ville Platte and Delouis Daire and wife Ethel Jean of Ville Platte; and two sisters, Gladys Darby of Opelousas and Ethel Darby and husband Floyd of Opelousas

Versie is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Simon Lafleur; parents, Derbes and Omerine O. Daire; brothers, Marvin Daire, J.D. Daire, and John Kerron Daire; and sister, Pauline Rape.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday by Deacon Ben Soileau. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
