VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Vernon Joseph Soileau, 76, announces his passing on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Whiteville with Father Michael Guidry as Celebrant.
Mr. Soileau was a true outdoorsman, he made his living as a farmer but he also was an avid hunter and fisherman. The only thing he loved more than being with nature was his beloved family. Mr. Soileau was never married but he leaves behind a large family that will miss him very much his brother Marion Soileau Jr. of Palmetto, his two sisters, Sherry Manuel and her husband Alvin Jr. of Baton Rouge and Terry Blood Murray of St. Landry. He also leaves behind six nieces, eleven nephews, seventeen great nieces, twentyone great nephews, five greatgreat nieces and seven greatgreat nephews.
He now joins in Heaven his parents Marion and Thelma Ortego Soileau, his brother and sisterinlaw Robert and Gladys Soileau, his sister and brotherinlaw Yvonne and Nelson Charlie, his brotherinlaw Charles W. Blood and his nephew, Patrick A. Soileau.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Monday, April 04, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 05, 2011 from 8:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 P.M.
