Ville Platte It is with heavy hearts that the family of Verna Prudhomme announces her passing on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 12:10 a.m. at Opelousas General Hospital.
She was 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Fr. Clinton Sensat Celebrant.
Verna will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her as an avid gardener and having a love for flowers. She was a long time employee for 30 years in the mens department at G. Ardoin Clothing Store and worked part time at A La Mode after that. A loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, Verna will be lovingly remembered by her son, James Brad Prudhomme of Lafayette one daughter, Bonnie Fontenot of Vidrine one brother, Roy Roberie of Plaisance two sisters, Betty Meche of Opelousas and Dolora Matt of Lawtell nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
She now rest in Heaven with her beloved husband, Elward Prudhomme parents, Lacy and Alice Roberie a soninlaw, Jenard Fontenot and one brother, J.L. Roberie.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Friday, September 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening.
