VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Velma Mae Bertrand Bergeron announces her passing on Sunday, February 17, 2013. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of committal will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Father Mitchell Guidry celebrant.
Mrs. Velma passed away at her home after a brief illness at the age of 91. She was very active in her practice of the Catholic Faith, enjoyed the Come Lord Jesus Ministry, and caring for her family. Raising her family and practicing her Faith were her passions in life.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her six sons: Larry Bergeron and wife Diana of Bayou Chicot, Robert Bergeron of Morgan City, Regis Bergeron and his wife Diane of Hammond, Joel Bergeron and his wife Annette of Bayou Chicot, John Bergeron and his wife Annie of Vidrine and Anthony Bergeron of Ville Platte and one daughter Janice Bergeron Fairchild of Sunset. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, twentyfive great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and her sisterinlaw Sister Angela Bergeron of Algiers.
She now joins in heaven her first husband Arceau Joseph Bergeron, her second husband John Nelson Andrus, her sisters Irene Picks and Elmine Hebert, her brother Vorhise Bertrand, and her parents Atlis Bertrand and Arena Landreneau.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 8:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be recited in her honor on Monday evening at 6:30 PM.
