PINE PRAIRIE It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Shirley Ruth West, 77, announces her passing on Monday, October 7, 2013 she was at her home when she left this world to join her Savior in the next. Her life will be celebrated during a Funeral of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church of Pine Prairie, burial will follow in The Friendship Baptist Cemetery with Pastors Kevin West and Todd Richardson officiating the services.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Shirley will be mourned by her precious children: Betty Manuel and her husband, Lee of Bond, Jerry West and his wife, Kira of Vienna, VA., Thomas Eric West and his wife, Patricia of Bossier City and James Kevin West and his wife, Anita of Bayou Chicot. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Susan, Brian and his wife, Kim, Benjamin, Wyatt, David, James, Jessica, Caleb, Olivia, Ethan and Kamryn and was further blessed with two great grandchildren: Kadyn and Hannah they were her absolute greatest joy in life. She leaves behind three siblings: James Martin and his wife, Phyllis of Rockhold, KY., Kenneth Martin of Roundlake, IL. and Mavis Turner, also of Roundlake, IL.
Shirley was a treasure to all who had the privilege of knowing her. To her friends and coworkers, she gave selflessly without a thought towards return. She never spared a kind word and was genuinely concerned for the well being of others. To her family and loved ones, she was a rock, a firm fixture who weathered the storms fearlessly. She built her home on Christian foundations and never squandered an opportunity to show her unconditional love for those she held dear.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her parents, Holmes Bryar Martin and Mattie Ellis Martin, a son, Allen Keith West and a daughter, Vickie Lynn West. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Friendship Baptist Church of Pine Prairie beginning at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 and will continue on until 10:00 PM that evening and will resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 and continue until the time of the service.
The West family would like to send their extreme gratitude to all who have loved and aided them through their time of loss. They feel truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
