Shannon James Fontenot was born in Mamou on January 16, 1969 to Ivan and Dianne Ortego Fontenot. Shannon was a farmer and loved to cook. He enjoyed setting lines for Catfish in the Atchafalaya and even though he loved to cook, he always preferred the way his mom cooked them. Shannon’s greatest joy was that of spending time with his family, especially his children and grandsons. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
Shannon is survived by his parents, Ivan and Dianne Ortego Fontenot; son, Seth Fontenot; daughter, Amelia Fontenot all of Ville Platte; sisters, Kimberly Pitre and husband Mitchell and Roxanne Miller and husband, Jamie both of Ville Platte; and brother, Eric Fontenot and wife, Mary of Robstown, Texas. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his five grandsons: Cayden Fontenot, Drew Fontenot, Bentley Charlie, Drake Fontenot, and Brayson Charlie.
