Roy Douget, 82, of Belcher, La. died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. Services to celebrate Roys life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2007, at 10 A.M. in the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Chene Vert Manuel Cemetery. Pastor Ronald Parks will officiate the services.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Friday, December 21, 2007, between the hours of 5 P.M. and 9 P.M. and again on Saturday, from 8 A.M. until time of services.

Roy was born on July 17, 1925 in Ville Platte, LA. to the late Lee Douget and Aminthe Johnson. Roy will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a retired Cotton Ginner. He had a major love for nature and living things, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. Roy will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish Roys memory are his wife of 30 years, Barbara S. Douget of Belcher, La.; six children, Linda Gayle Douget Blood and husband, Rev. Roger, of St. Landry and their children, Tammy Vidrine, Melissa Bernal, Roger Blood, Jr. and Joshua Blood ; Dalpheney Ann Douget Thornton and husband, Arnold, of Ville Platte and their children, Leigh Ann Milner and Corey Lane Blood; Anna Marie Douget Ortego and husband, Michael, of Turkey Creek and their children, Michael Brannon Ortego and Kelly Josephine Ortego; Barbara Sue Douget Book and husband, Lloyd, of McNary, La and their children, Lee Joseph Book and Jay Orin Book; Paul Sapp and wife, Wendy, of Gilliam and their children, Lindsey, Amber and Chelsie Sapp; and Roy Douget, Jr. and friend Ruth Harmon and her son, Wesley; one brother, Hilton Douget of Mamou; three sisters, Barbara Hargrove of Oakdale, Mary Grace Soria of Lafayette, and Mary Alice Lafleur of Mamou; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Pommier Douget, mother of five of his children.
