Ville Platte It is with great sadness that the family of Roland Manuel, 68 announces his passing on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 26, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Chataignier with Fr. Mario Romero Celebrant.
As a retired school teacher Roland enjoyed many things like photography having worked for the Ville Platte Gazette and also having a passion for the French culture he hosted a radio show for KVPI and the Liberty Theatre in Eunice. Although being around his family and his grandchildren was truly the joy of his life. Roland was a loving father, brother, and grandfather, he will be lovingly remembered by his son, Anthony Tony Manuel and his wife, Amy of Ville Platte his daughter, Andrea Manuel Suarez and her husband, Jose of Caty, Tx. one brother, J.C. Manuel of Duralde one sister, Maxie Fontenot of Mamou four grandchildren, Holden Scot Manuel, Brenden Luke Manuel, Christian Joseph Suarez, and Ava Grace Suarez and one stepgrandchild, Israel Suarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Atile and Hazel Manuel and three brothers, Preston Manuel, John Burke Manuel, and Edward Manuel.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
