VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Rodrick Dick Fontenot, 74, announces his passing on Monday, July 25, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow at the Platin Cemetery. Fr. Darren Eldridge will be officiating the services.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather and brother, Roderick will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Shirley Soileau Fontenot and his five sons, Kirk Fontenot and his wife, Sandra, of Ville Platte, Scotty Fontenot of Ville Platte, Troy Fontenot also of Ville Platte, Daniel Fontenot and his wife, Tiffany, and Tora Fontenot and his wife, Chere, both of Iowa, Louisiana. He also leaves behind four siblings, Herman Boy Fontenot of Scott, Robley Fontenot and his wife, Martha, of Dallas, Ann Lafleur of Ville Platte and Mona Moran of Port Barre. His memory will be cherished by his ten beloved grandchildren and his one greatgrandchild.
Mr. Fontenot was the caretaker of Millers Lake Estates he was an avid fisherman and hunter. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family and close friends.
Mr. Fontenot was preceded in death by his parents, Inis T.I. and Zelonia Fontenot and one sister, Mary Pitre.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 until time of services. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M.
