Robert Lee Richard, born Monday, July 7, 1941, in Lawtell, Louisiana bid his final farewell on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication and adventure. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 am at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget Church Cemetery in Lawtell with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating services.

Robert's professional journey was defined by his hard work and commitment. He spent years working on an offshore oil rig, showcasing his resilience and strong work ethic. When back at home, Robert could be seen working as a crawfish farmer around his hometown.

 In addition to his career accomplishments, Robert also proudly served his country with two years in the United States Army and continued his service for another two years in the Army Guard. His bravery and sense of duty were evident in all aspects of his life.

 Outside of work and service, Robert found joy in various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for fishing and hunting, finding solace in nature's beauty. Solving crossword puzzles challenged his mind, while dancing to Cajun music brought rhythm to his soul. Amongst friends and loved ones, he reveled in the excitement of a well-played hand in the beloved game of Bourre’, creating memories that would forever be etched in their hearts.

 Robert Lee Richard leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his surviving family members and friends including his daughter, Krystal Richard Ortego; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. His memory will live on through them as they recall the moments shared with a man of integrity, strength, and kindness. Robert is also survived by his companion, Shirley Conner and the mother of his children, Betty L. Richard.

 Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Nola Darbonne Richard; four sons, Robert Troy, Michael Todd, Anthony Shane and Jared Laine Richard; daughter, Yvette Michelle Richard; three brothers, Rodney “Black”, Felton, and Calvin Richard; and two sisters, Barbara R. Melancon and Linda Richard Manual.

 In honoring Robert's life, let us celebrate the impact he had on those around him and the lasting memories he leaves behind. Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, beginning at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 8:00 am until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed before the time of service.
