VILLE PLATTE- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Ray Deshotel, age 74, announces his passing on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Opelousas General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father Barzare, celebrant

At the request of the Deshotel family, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 5 PM until 9 PM and will reopen Wednesday at 8 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in Mr. Deshotel's honor Tuesday evening at 7 PM.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Mr. Deshotel will be greatly missed by his wife, Dalores Deville Deshotel of Ville Platte, son, Stacy M. Deshotel and wife Lisa of Tate Cove and daughter, Melanie Deshotel of Ville Platte. Also left behind to cherish his memory are two grandchildren, Everett Deshotel and Brandi Andrus, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Mr. Deshotel will now reunite in Heaven with his brothers, Grady Deshotel and Ridgeway Deshotel.
