Rella V. Fontenot

It is with heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved Rella V. Fontenot, a lifelong resident of Ville Platte, LA. Born on June 22, 1940, to her parents, George Mack Vidrine and Armid Fontenot Vidrine in the same city, Rella dedicated her life to her family and home. On Monday, September 23, 2024, this earth lost a beautiful soul as Rella peacefully left us, surrounded by love and comfort of her family, at the age of 84.

 Rella will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ronnie Fontenot (Selina) and Tony Fontenot (Pam); daughter, Caroline Taylor (John); daughter-in-law, Christine Fontenot; grandchildren Delaney Fontenot, Coty Fontenot, Jonie Perron, Callie Ardoin, Kyle Fontenot, Kitty Thibodeaux, Gabe Fontenot and Tyler Lavergne, who were the light of her life; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Norwood Vidrine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She found immense joy in her role of a homemaker and took pride in her caring for her family. Rella's generous spirit and nurturing nature touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on her family and friends.

Rella is preceded in death by her parents; son, Francis Benney Fontenot; brothers, Clanny Vidrine and Pervis Vidrine; and sister, Dorothy Fontenot. Rella treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be held dear by all those who knew her. She had a passion for gardening and tending to her flower beds, finding peace and solace among her beloved roses.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in honor of Rella Fontenot at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10:00 am. Following the Mass, a burial ceremony will take place at the appointed time with Father Tom Voorhies overseeing the service.

A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, beginning at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm by Deacon Tom Donovan. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service. As we prepare to bid our final farewells to Rella, let us remember her with love and gratitude for the joy she brought into our lives. Her memory will live on through the love she shared, the kindness she showed, and the beauty she brought to this world. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the flowers she so dearly loved.
