VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Rawlins Joseph Peanut Vidrine, 77, announces his passing on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at his residence. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery with Fr. Sensat officiating.
Rawlins was the owner and operator of Vidrines Auto Supply Company which was founded in 1967 and was very active in Ville Plattes Dixie Youth Baseball program. Rawlins served his country in the U. S. army and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. A loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, his memory will be cherished by his wife of 55 years, Juanita Barron Vidrine of Ville Platte, two sons Virgil Vidrine of Lafayette and Greg Vidrine and wife Karen of Prairieville, two brothers Jimmy Vidrine and Oklin Vidrine both of Amite, Louisiana, two sisters Carol Baudin of Kenner and Arleen Vidrine of Ville Platte, four grandchildren Brodie Vidrine and wife Beth, Christina Vidrine Alemand and husband Shane, Aimee Vidrine, and Alec Vidrine, and two great grandchildren Colby and Brayden Alemand.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rene and Omerisse Vidrine.
Family request that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 1:00 PM until 8:00PM and again on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 6:30 PM.
