PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte on Thursday, May 24, 2018, for Olen L. Ortego, 90, who passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Ville Platte, Louisiana.

Pastors David Plunkett and Daniel Holsomback will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Ardoin Cemetery in Easton, LA.

Olen L. Ortego was born in Easton, Louisiana on March 1, 1928 to Arbel Ortego and Nolean Chapman Ortego. He proudly served in the US Navy. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Harmony 410 Lodge in Eunice. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, camping at the North Landing of Chicot State Park, and traveling throughout the United States and Canada.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynda Kay Fontenot and husband, Oswald Fontenot, Jr. of Bayou Chicot; two sons, Olen Anthony Ortego and wife Christine Miller Ortego of Carlsbad, NM and Edward A. Ortego and wife Belinda Deville Ortego of Easton; one sister, Mary Jean Soileau of Flora, LA; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

He preceded in death by his parents; Arbel Ortego and Nolean Chapman Ortego; wife, Eunice Katy Primrose Ortego; two sisters, Irene Jones and Anna Belle Marlatt.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
