VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Thursday, April 26, 2018, for Nell Mae Smith Rozas, 93, who passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 in Opelousas, LA.
Father Mitch Guidry, pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Ville Platte.
Nell Mae Smith Rozas was born in Ville Platte, LA on May 7, 1924 to Cyriac and Evelia Fontenot Smith. She worked as a bookkeeper at G. Ardoin's and Company for 20 plus years. Her devotion to family and her faith was apparent every day. She spent over 25 years serving her church as a Eucharistic Minister, cleaning and maintaining the rectory, preparing meals, and assisting the church with weddings and funerals. This is where she left her legacy of faith in God, service to others and love for all. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Mitchell Rozas and wife Angela of Ville Platte, daughter, Deanna Rozas Saucier of Ville Platte; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence Rozas; parents, Cyriac and Evelia Fontenot Smith; and sisters, Ludy Mae Rozas and Verlie Terracina.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday 8:00 AM until time of service.
