Nelba Ann Soileau Mire went peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, November 22, 2024. Nelba was born to Agnes Cortez and Frank Soileau in Bayou Chicot on Saturday, September 6, 1941. She was the only daughter and was adored by her brothers, Patrick and Chester.
She met the love of her life, Vernon Mire, on a blind date. They married soon after on September 23, 1961. The couple had four children, Joey, DeEtte, Chad and Kirk who filled their home with love. Their happiness was her happiness.
Nelba was a licensed practical nurse and her joy in life was caring for others. She took a respite from nursing to work in the school system to be with her children. After they were grown, she went back into the nursing field at Prairie Manor Nursing Home where she worked until retirement.
Nelba found the most happiness when her home was filled with her children, and her vast extended family. She loved the holidays, having her home full and cooking for her loved ones. Pancakes for her sons after hunting was a must. Pecan pies were plenteous as requested and highly sought after!
Nelba was also a talented crafter. She painted and was an excellent seamstress. She loved Spring when she could garden and plant new flowers. She found joy in spending time doing these things.
Nelba loved her son and daughters-in-law. She would often marvel at the number of grandchildren and great grandchildren she was blessed with. She was proud of each and every one of them.
Frequently you could hear her laughter before you saw her. She was loud and boisterous. She was happy, kind and loving. Her hugs were the best and filled with love.
As a family, we are thankful for the care not only given at Prairie Manor, but received. They were considered her family. We are forever grateful for every kindness shown to our mother and continued care to our father.
Please remember the family in your prayers as we lay to rest our beloved mother.
