VILLE PLATTE - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mercedese T. Lafleur announces her passing on Friday, February 05, 2016 at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Father Tom Vourhies officiating services.
Mercedes was a devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and cherished her time in the Adoration Chapel. She was known for her cooking, baking, and gardening. Her greatest joy was that of being a loving mother to her three daughters Janice Brignac and husband William "Billy", Shurlene Fruge and husband Wayne, and Tina Saucier and husband Kent all of Ville Platte. Her memory will be cherished by her six grandchildren: Trent Brignac, Ryan Brignac, Mitzi LeJeune, Marti Pitre, Haley Hollier and Lindsey Kinney and her 11 great grandchildren.
She now rests in Heaven with her husband Joseph Harrison Lafleur, parents Orterre and Edvise Deshotel Thompson, three sisters, and one brother.
At the family's request, visitation will take place at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, February 7 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM and again on Monday, February 8 from 8:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters in her honor Sunday at 4:00 PM.
