Funeral services for Melda D. May, 84, were held Monday, December 11, 2006 at 3pm in Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Rhonde. Pastor Clifton Lejeune officiated the services.

Mrs. May, a native of Ville Platte and a resident of Egan, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 9:53pm in South Wind Nursing Home in Crowley.

Survivors include five sons, James W. May of Evangeline, James Lawney May of Egan, John Larry May of Duson, Ira J. May, Jr. of Evangeline, and Ray Allen May of Egan; two daughters, Ella Ray Jeansonne of Marksville and Carolyn Marie Dupre of Jennings; two brothers, J.C. Deville of Morgan City and Frederick Paul Deville of Ville Platte; four sisters, Gladys Fontenot of Opelousas, Marie Harris Fewell of Lake Charles, Della Deville of Ville Platte, and Anna Mae Andrepont of Ville Platte; twenty three grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2pm until 10pm and on Monday 8am until time of services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. May, Sr.
