Mary Ann Lafleur, a beloved lifelong resident of Ville Platte, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on February 12, 1956, Mary touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and culinary talents.
Known for her exceptional baking skills, Mary had a special gift for creating delightful birthday cakes, with her signature confetti cake being a family favorite. Her passion for cooking extended beyond celebrations; she cherished gathering her family around the table during the holidays, sharing not just meals but also love and laughter. In addition to her baking, Mary enjoyed sewing and had a knack for crafting beautiful items that brought joy to those around her.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with her daughters, Veronica Guillory, Mary Anne Fontenot, Jr., Joanna Gail Lafleur, and Annie Rose Lafleur, as well as her son, Christopher Lafleur. She is also survived by her sister, Bertha Hebert, and is blessed with 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to honor her memories.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Laurine Russell, Sr. and Mary Ethel Bourque Russell; her son, Sherone Russell; her daughter, Maria-Don Russell; and her brother, Laurine Russell, Jr.
Mary Ann Lafleur’s loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth and exceptional baking will continue to live on in the memories of her family and friends.
