VILLE PLATTE – Funeral Services will be held for Louella Bernard at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, La.  Father Tom Voorhies will preside over the service as the celebrant.  Interment will be conducted at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

Louella Manuel, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at her home in Ville Platte surrounded by her loving family. With a heart full of compassion, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Louella’s warm smile, comforting words, and genuine interest in others' well-being became a source of solace and inspiration. True joy emanated from her selfless acts of kindness. Her love for cooking and baking was renowned, and her delectable creations brought joy to countless friends and family. Her home was a welcoming haven, where laughter and love were abundantly shared. Louella possessed a special talent for making guests feel cherished, ensuring unforgettable memories were woven into the fabric of their lives.

A lover of nature's beauty, Louella loved an array of vibrant flowers. Among Louella's passions was her unwavering wanderlust. She ventured across continents, exploring the rich tapestry of cultures and reveling in the stories of distant lands. From the rolling hills of North America to the charming streets of Europe, she breathed in the world's wonders, collecting precious memories along her travels.

She is survived by two nieces, Rita Venable and Beryl Venable.

Louella is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bernard; one son, Larry Dale Bernard; her parents Chester and Elma Chapman and two sisters, Margene Chapman Manshardt (Harry) and Grace Chapman Venable (Emery).

There will be a visitation held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, starting at 12:00 PM until the commencement of the service.
