Funeral services for Mr. Lester Laurant Helmer, 84, will be held 10am Saturday, January 13, 2007 in Bayou Chicot Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Vandenburg Cemetery. Rev. Ross Ford and Rev. Joe Jenkins will officiate the services.

Mr. Helmer, a resident of Bayou Chicot, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 12:30pm in Ville Platte Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda Ortego Helmer; two sons, Benjamin L. Bennie Helmer and wife, Ellen P. and Robert P. Bobby Helmer, and wife, Janice J.; four daughters, Francis Jonnie Allen husband, Roy Allen, Jr., Muriel Bit Johnson, Donna Fontenot and husband, Randy, and Candy Griffith and husband, Cody Glenn; two stepdaughters, Fonda Robinson and Connie Pitre; two brothers, Donald Helmer and Ronald Helmer; twenty two grandchildren, forty two great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Eudova J. Helmer; a daughter, Linda Brunet; a sister, Shirley Courtney; mother, Bessie Helmer; father, Benjamin Helmer; and a step son, Charles Fontenot.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2007 at Ardoins Funeral Home from 10am until 10pm and on Saturday, at Bayou Chicot Methodist Church from 8am until time of services.
