Ville Platte It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Terrell, 71, announces his passing on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Ville Platte Medical Center in Ville Platte. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot. Rite of Committal will follow in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Turkey Creek.

Leon served as minister for 50 years having served 21 of those years at Calvary Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot. He also wrote a book titled The History of Calvary Baptist Church at Bayou Chicot. A loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Leon will be lovingly missed by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Terrell of Bayou Chicot; one son, Benjamin Terrell and wife, Shari of Tuscumbia, Al.; one daughter, Madeline Marcantel and husband, Jeremy of Turkey Creek; one brother, Roland Terrell of Leesville; two sisters, Minale Bryson of Walker and Nancy McCon of Walker; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Nancy Terrell and two brothers, Homer L. Terrell and Alex B. Terrell, Jr.

The family request that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church and again on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
