CHATAIGNIER It is with great sadness that the family of Lenus Lionel Manuel, 88, announces his passing on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Lionel served his country with honor and pride as a soldier in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life long resident of Chataignier, where he made his living as a farmer.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Lionel is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Kohler Manuel of Chataignier, his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ballard and her husband, Major Shelby Ballard, of Prairieville. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Dr. Colette Castleberry and her husband, Matthew, of Atlanta, Georgia and Jarrett Christman Rabai of Breaux Bridge.
He now joins in Heaven his parents, Lenus and Odette Manuel and his son, John Brent Manuel. They await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
Lionels family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Mercy Regional Medical Center for their expert care and great compassion during his stay.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM that evening and again Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM.
