Lena Fontenot

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lena Fontenot at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, followed by burial at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Father Mitch Guidry will be the celebrant of the mass.

Lena Fontenot was born in Church Point, Louisiana on January 15, 1948. She was a dedicated homemaker who treasured her family. Known for being sweet and loveable, Lena got along with everyone and loved to pass the time talking to them. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be missed dearly by all who loved her. Lena passed away in Eunice on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the age of 75.

Lena is survived by her two sons: Joseph Kurt Fontenot and companion, Mary Thrasher, and Jessie S. Fontenot, and wife, Jessica; two daughters: Denise Fontenot and husband, Bobby, and Monique Fontenot; grandchildren: Sarah, Bailey, Olivia, Christopher, Amelia, Wesley, Wyatt, Brice, Noah, Cabot, Kaigen, Kallie, Gavin, Madison; great-granddaughter, Vivian; and sister, Dorothy Lafleur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie W. Fontenot, parents, Odess Darbonne and Rosa Matte Darbonne, and granddaughter, Alexa Monique Soileau.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte; a rosary will be recited by Deacon Jason Lavergne at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume 8:00 AM Wednesday, April 19.
