VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness that the family of Lela D. Vidrine, 91, announces her passing on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home of Opelousas her beloved family was at her side when she left this world to take her place in the next. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church of Morrow. Rite of Committal will follow in The St. Peter Mausoleum with Fr. Mike Guidry as Celebrant.
Lela owned and operated Vidrines Exxon and Grocery in Morrow, La. for twenty six years. She was an avid quilter and left many handmade treasures for her family friends to enjoy for years to come.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Lela leaves behind her loving children: Stephen Vidrine of Baton Rouge, Don Vidrine and his wife, Paula of Helena, Montana, Joan Borges and her husband, Louis of Lafayette, Linda Funchess and her husband, Mac of Folsom and Anita Parker and her husband, David of Baton Rouge. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her eight grandchildren: Rachel Borges Johnson, Ryan Borges, Chase Funchess, Celeste Funchess, Nicole Funchess, Dylan Parker, Tyler Parker and Trey Parker and her one great grandchild, Conner Johnson they were her absolute greatest joy in life. She will also be mourned by her only remaining sibling: Verna Guillory of Ville Platte. Lela leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends her sweet disposition and kind soul will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her beloved husband, Eloi Vidrine, her parents, Fernand and Angeline Ortego Deshotels and her siblings: Nolan Deshotels, John H. Deshotels, Nathan Deshotels, Beverly Ann Deshotels and Lou Anna Deshotels. They most certainly await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Vidrine family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 1, 2013 and will continue until 9:00 PM that evening and will resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 and will carry on until the time of the service. A Rosary will be recited in her honor at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent, in Lelas name, to Prompt Succor Nursing Home of Opelousas, 954 Prudhomme St., Opelousas, La. 70570.
