Kenny Fontenot

VILLE PLATTE – Kenny Fontenot passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Lafayette at the age of 66 .  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 1:30 PM with Father Tom Voorhies as celebrant.  Burial will take place in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery.

Kenny Fontenot was born on Saturday, April 6, 1957 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Ned B. and Laperle Fontenot.  Kenny was a maintenance man and custodian at Sacred Heart Elementary for 26 years.  He was very dedicated to his job and was known by the students as being able to fix anything.  The children had a heartfelt saying “If Mr. Kenny can’t fix it – no one can.”  When not working, Kenny enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and ducks, and riding his tractor while shredding.  Most often by his side, you would find his canine friend, Champagne.  Kenny was hardworking and loving and will be greatly missed.  His memory will live on in the hearts of the many children who looked up to him on a daily basis.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Linda Johnson Fontenot; two sisters, Emerella Soileau and husband, Kenneth Soileau and Ruth Brewer and husband, Bert Brewer; sister in law, Joy Fontenot; a host of nieces and nephews; and a community of friends.

Kenny now rests in Heaven with his parents, Ned B. and Laperle Fontenot; brothers, Huey B. Fontenot and Rynell B. Fontenot; sister, Gloria Fontenot Grim and brothers in law, Rickson Lee and Richard Grim.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Monday, May 8, 2023 beginning at 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary led by Deacon Tim Donovan, will be prayed in his honor Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
