VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Bayou Chicot Methodist Church in Bayou Chicot on Friday, June 22, 2018, for Joyce Helmer, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Ville Platte, LA.

Ross Ford, pastor of Bayou Chicot Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Bayou Chicot.

Joyce Helmer was born in Zavalla, TX on October 13, 1938 to Bessie Davenport and Alfonza Davenport.

She is survived by her sons, Glynn Helmer and wife Judy and Jerry Helmer and wife Monica; siblings, Al Davenport, Geraldine Barland, James Davenport, Billy Davenport, and Robert Davenport; grandchildren, Glynn Helmer, Amy Comeau, Michael Reilly, Shelby Vidrine, John Horn, and Peyton Helmer; and great-grandchildren, Madison Comeau and Aubrey Helmer.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald Helmer, parents, Bessie Davenport and Alfonza Davenport; and siblings, Shirley Soileau and Margaret Ann Tremie.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue at Bayou Chicot Methodist Church on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Pall Bearers are Moss Comeau, Billy Davenport, Sam Vidrine, Glynn Helmer, Peyton Helmer, and Douglas Davenport.
