Ville Platte It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Joseph O. Verrette announces his passing on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. He was 85 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Old St. Anns Cemetery with Fr. Mario Romero Celebrant.
Joseph served in WWII, he was a veteran of both the United States Army and United States Air Force.
He will be lovingly remembered by his four sons, Jerry Verrette of Ville Platte, Donald Verrette of Ville Platte, James Verrette of Rayne, and Steve Verrette and his wife, Julie of Plaisance two daughters, Judy Verrette Rider and husband, Bobby of Eunice and Brenda Verrette Fontenot and husband, Ted of Ville Platte one brother, Ray Verrette and wife, Audrey of Ville Platte two sisters, Grace Miller of Opelousas and Rose Vidrine of Ville Platte sixteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
He now rest in Heaven with his parents, Adam and Alida Landreneau Verrette son, Kenneth Verrette daughter, Patricia Verrette, and grandson, Jerry Verrette, Jr.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Friday, August 27, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. and again on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Alvarez and his staff, Eltac Hospital in Mamou, Mercy Regional Medical Center, Hospice Compassus, and Heritage Manor Nursing Home especially Jenny Reed.
Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
