VILLE PLATTE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Joseph Darwin "Duh Duh" Thompson announces his passing on Monday, January 16, 2017 in Ville Platte at the age of 68.
At the request of the family, visitation will begin at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A rosary for Mr. Darwin will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18. Mr. Darwin will be laid to rest in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.
Darwin served as a Firefighter, Ville Platte, for over 14 years. He is credited with saving multiple lives, homes, and property, he was a dedicated firefighter, and we will be forever in his debt. Darwin enjoyed hunting and fishing with his close friends. He loved to use his culinary skills to treat his friends and family. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time playing guitar and singing next to a warm camp fire.
Darwin will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his close cousins, Andrew Thompson and wife, Andrea, Cassie Ardoin, Andy Ardoin and wife, Ann, Gilda, Pat, and Cassidy Bellard, Glenda Tucker and husband, Pete, Morris Ardoin, Dickson Ardoin, Scott Ardoin and wife, Pam, and Alisa Gothreaux and husband, Gregg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Florence L. Thompson, and Versie Fontenot, both of Ville Platte, LA and his little sister, Barbara Jane Thompson.
His brother Firefighters will serve as pall bearers.
The family has entrusted Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte with arrangements (709 W. Main St., Ville Platte, LA 70586).
