ST. LANDRY It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Oveal Thibodeaux, 81, announces his passing on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church in St. Landry. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Theresa Cemetery with Father Richard Broussard as Celebrant.
A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his son, Steve Thibodeaux and his wife, Linda of Youngsville, his three daughters, Vickie Guilbeau and her husband, John of Lafayette, Elizabeth Fortier and her husband Allen of Thibodeaux and Jeanie Thibodeaux of Ville Platte. Mr. Thibodeaux also leaves behind one sister, Ola Mae Guilbeau of Carencro, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also served his country proudly and with honor while enlisted in the United States Army.
He now joins in Heaven, his parents, Ellis and Louisa Fontenot Thibodeaux.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Friday, May 27, 2011 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM a Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:00 PM. The parlor will reopen Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 8:00 AM and remain open until time of services.
