VILLE PLATTE It is with immense sadness that the family of Joseph JY Soileau, 89, announces his passing on Monday, September 02, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center of Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 04, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Rite of Committal will follow in the M B Fontenot Cemetery with Fr. Brian Harrington as Celebrant.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, Joseph will be deeply missed by his devoted daughter, Glenda S. Ortego and her husband, James Coonie Ortego of Ville Platte. His memory will be forever cherished by his five grandchildren they were his absolute greatest joy in life. He also leaves behind one brother, Bruce Soileau of Ville Platte.
JY served his country with great honor and pride as a rifleman in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Italy and in May of 1944 was wounded in action he was awarded a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged.
He will now reunite in Heaven with his beloved wife, Elva Fusilier Soileau, his parents, Dolsey and Dayer Veillon Soileau, a son, Dwaine Soileau, a daughter, Pamela Soileau, a grandson, Chad Ortego, a brother, Harold Soileau and a sister, Germaine Boone. They await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the Soileau family asks that donations be sent, in Joseph JY Soileaus name, to Louisiana State University Foundation Fund. Please forward donations to 1099 Thoroughbred Ln. Ville Platte, La. 70586.
