VILLE PLATTE - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Joseph Rollins Saucier, 79, announces his passing on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. A Catholic service will be celebrated in his honor on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies as celebrant.
Rollins loved the outdoors and was a member of the Cajun Wing Campers since 1980. His greatest love was his wife of 60 years, Frenella Fontenot Saucier of Ville Platte. He was a loving father to his four sons: James Curt Saucier and wife Lisa of Ville Platte, Kent Saucier and wife Tina of Ville Platte, Kevin Saucier and wife Rose of Wise, Virginia, and Keith Saucier and companion Lisa Crane of Ville Platte and three daughters: Phyllis Saucier LeBlanc and companion Calvin Adams of Ville Platte, Phoebe Deshotel and husband Kaylor of Pine Prairie and Pamela Schmidt and husband Keith of Hawkins, Texas. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his three brothers: John H. Saucier and wife Margaret of Chatagnier, James Saucier and Ronald Saucier both of Ville Platte, 15 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
He now rests in Heaven with his parents Avie and Armance Lafleur Saucier and his grandson Jamie Lee Deshotel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Plate on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 1:30 PM until 10:00 PM and again on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited in his memory on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
