VILLE PLATTE- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Joseph Nellwood Ortego, age 81, announces his passing on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his home in Pine Prairie. A military presentation in Mr. Ortego's honor will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 2 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte.
Joseph was a hardworking family man who retired from the US Navy after 20 years in the service. Once retired, he then worked as a roustabout in the oil field industry and raised cattle.
A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirlene West Ortego, sons; Randy Ortego and wife Rhonda of Haughton, La., Darrell Ortego and wife Alicia of Pine Prairie, Danny Ortego and wife Donna of Pine Prairie, Todd Ortego and wife Amanda of Pine Prairie, brothers; Harvey Ortego and wife Irene of Eunice, and Jimmy Ortego and wife Sue of Eunice. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 14 grandchildren: Megan, Thomas, Andrew, Josh, Nathan, Courtland, Cassie, Latisha, Haley, Nicholas, Courtney, Deanna, Colby, Tequila and his 9 Great grandchildren.
At the request of the Ortego family, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 10 AM until 10 PM.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte, La.
