Joseph Murray Veillon, born on December 5, 1933, in Ville Platte, LA, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the age of 90. He was known for his kind heart, unwavering faith, and dedication to his family and community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Evangeline Memorial Park Mausoleum. Father Stephan Pellessier will preside over the service.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later pursued a career in paint and bodywork on automotives. Joseph also dedicated his time and skills to maintenance work at the Mental Health Facility in Ville Platte before retiring. His friendly nature shone through as he engaged in conversations with anyone he met. Joseph held a deep Catholic faith, praying the Rosary daily and attending Mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints without fail. His commitment to his faith was evident as he carried his Rosary with him wherever he went.
Joseph was surrounded by loved ones who meant the world to him. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Veillon, Jennifer Schatzle and husband, Joseph Steven, and Christie Soileau; grandchildren, Joshua Schatzle, Rebecca Schatzle, Ryan Schatzle and wife, Samantha, and Gabriel Schatzle.
He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 58 years, Laura Anne Richard Veillon; brothers, Joseph Clevin Veillon and Joseph Leas Veillon; sisters, Lucinda Veillon Guillory and Percie Veillon Fontenot; and parents, Fabus Veillon and Marguerite Soileau Veillon in eternal peace.
Joseph Murray Veillon will be remembered for his warm smile, compassionate spirit, and unwavering faith. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being prayed in his honor at 6:00 pm by Deacon Ben Soileau. Visitation will resume on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 9:00 am until the time of service.
