Joseph Leonard Fontenot, a beloved husband, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, at the age of 66. Born on October 9, 1958, in Ville Platte, he was a lifelong resident of the area where he made an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Platin Cemetery with Father Voorhies presiding over services.
Joseph’s life was a testament to love, loyalty, and dedication. He cherished his wife, Theresa A. Fontenot, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they cultivated a nurturing home filled with laughter, warmth, and steadfast support. His devotion to his family extended to his children and grandchildren, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
An avid outdoorsman, Joseph found great joy in hunting and fishing at Tensas Reserve Wildlife Refuge, where he created countless cherished memories with friends and family. Professionally, Joe practiced his craft as a plumber for nearly 15 years, gaining respect for his skill and work ethic in the community.
Joe's gentle spirit and kind nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his five sons, Kip (Angel), Christopher (Heidi), Rusty P (Nicole), Casey, and Cody (Courtney); his four brothers, Ronnie Fontenot, Earl Fontenot, Thomas Fontenot and Paul Fontenot (Ann); his two sisters, Angie West and Yvette Buller (Benny). Also, left to cherish Joseph’s memories are his 12 loving grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Olga Fontenot, his siblings, David Lee Fontenot and Denise Miller; one niece, Crystal Miller; and his nephews, Nathan Daniel Fontenot, Gregory Fontenot, Paul Shane Fontenot, Michael Buller and Michael Fontenot.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte, beginning on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being prayed by Deacon Tim Donovan at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of Mass.
