Joseph Fontenot

November 10, 1941 — April 7, 2020

VILLE PLATTE – Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 for Joseph Claney Fontenot, 78, who passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Ville Platte surrounded by his loving family.

Burial will take place in M. B. Fontenot Cemetery.

Father Blake Dubroc will conduct services.

Joseph Claney Fontenot was born in Ville Platte, LA on November 10, 1941 to Varice and Regina Deville Fontenot.  Claney worked for the city of Opelousas for many years.  He loved listening to country music and would frequently visit Floyd’s Record Shop and buy country music cassette tapes and CD’s.  He was a huge wrestling fan and would always watch it on television.  Claney loved snacking on his Jumbo Honey Buns and with a cold coke.  He was a man of fashion. Claney was always “dressed to a T” and liked a nice smelling cologne.

Claney is survived by his daughters, Patsy Fontenot and husband Burke and Faye Guidry and husband Terry; grandchildren, Kelly Klein, Jessica Fontenot, David Reinhart, Beth Reinhart, and Wayne Reinhart; great-grandchildren, Samantha Vidrine, James Thomas Klein, and Savanah Gatte; great-great-grandchildren, Vanessa Gatte and Brooklyn Gatte;  sister, Rose Fontenot; and brother, Cliff Fontenot.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Varice and Regina Deville Fontenot; and wife, Ida Mae Berzas Fontenot.
