VILLE PLATTE It is with heavy hearts that the family of Johnny Lovery Self, known to most as Buddy, announces his passing on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. A Celebration of Buddys life will take place at The Bayou Chicot Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2012. Burial will follow in The Vandenburg Cemetery with Pastor Ross Ford and Pastor Roger Whittington officiating.
A devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and brother, Buddy leaves behind his adoring wife of six years, Muriel Bit Self. He will also be deeply missed by his three sons: Ronnie Self of Clinton, Patrick Self of Livonia and Fredrick Self of Denham Springs also left behind are his eight stepchildren: Scott Johnson of Pine Prairie, Kirk Johnson of Chicot, Willie Johnson of Chicot, Becky Ardoin of Eunice, Andrea Jones of Forest, Nanci West of Pine Prarie, Claire Joubert of St. Landry and Alacyn Hunley of Oakdale. His loss will be felt by his four siblings: Floyd Self of Roswell, New Mexico, Willard Self of Federal Way, Washington, Lois Self Fenstemaker of Seattle, Washington and Judy Self Brown of Duson. Buddys memory will most certainly be cherished by his twenty three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren they were the absolute light of his life.
He will now join in Heaven his beloved parents: Willie Lee and Mae Self they await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Self family, visitation will take place at The Bayou Chicot Methodist Church beginning at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 13, 2012 and continuing until the time of the service Friday.
