VILLE PLATTEIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John Weelo Fontenot, 71, announces his passing on Friday, February 03, 2012 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, February 04, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Rite of Committal will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park with Fr. McIntre as Celebrant.

John, known as Weelo to all who knew him, was owner and operator of Weelos Grocery for 27 years in Ville Platte. He was also a cattleman and dairy farmer all of his life and for many years farmed potatoes, cotton, and soybeans. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sons, Phillip Fontenot and wife, Monica, Paul Fontenot, and Jody David Fontenot, all of Ville Platte brother, Andrew Fontenot and wife, Patricia of Fort Worth, TX sister inlaw, Leila Fontenot of Ville Platte companion, Cindy Deshotels of Ville Platte and four grandchildren, Travis Kurt Fontenot, Hunter Lane Fontenot, Alec James Fontenot, and Morgan Elizabeth Fontenot.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Theodore and Elizabeth Fontenot, and brother, Rodney Fontenot

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, February 03, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and again on Saturday, February 04, 2012 from 8:00 am until time of Services. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:00 pm.
