Grand Prairie It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of John Herman Sylvester announces his passing on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital. He was 62 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. Rite of Committal will follow in the Attales Cemetery in Ville Platte with Fr. Richard Vidrine Celebrant.
John will always be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Juanita Sylvester the former, Juanita Fontenot of Grand Prairie one son, John Phillip Sylvester and wife, Nicole of Grand Prairie one daughter, Cathy Sylvester Callahan and husband, Matt of Broussard five brothers, John Sherale Tubby Sylvester of Belaire Cove, Ronald Sylvester, Wayne Sylvester, Dean Sylvester, and Peter Sylvester all of Grand Prairie and seven grandchildren, Zachary, Chase, Lane, and Haden Sylvester and Wade, Ryan, and Gabriel Callahan.
He now rest in Heaven with his parents, John H. Sylvester, Sr. and Mildred Soileau Sylvester.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
