John Terry Marcantel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Terry Marcantel, who passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 80. He dedicated his entire career to the oilfield, where he worked tirelessly throughout his life. His commitment and hard work shaped not just his life, but also the lives of those around him.

Born on May 20, 1944, in Ville Platte, John was a true Louisiana native. He embraced the beauty of his surroundings, finding immense joy in the simple pleasures of the outdoors. He was passionate about camping, fishing, and hunting, delighting in moments spent catching turtles. He found happiness in the sounds of French Cajun music, speaking in Cajun French, which often accompanied his beloved activities. A lover of good food, John enjoyed sipping coffee, savoring fried oysters, and indulging in Chinese cuisine—comforts that brought him joy and contentment.

He is survived by his cherished children: Sheila, David, Russell, Terry Paul, Patrick, and Matthew, who carry forward his spirit and values. John's legacy blossoms through his 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom holds a precious piece of his heart and memory.

Though John has joined his beloved parents and his son, Billy Ray, in eternal rest, the love he shared and the memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
