VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John Harold Fontenot, 81, announces his passing on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at WillisKnighton Medical Center. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:00AM. Rite of committal will follow in the B. J. Fontenot Cemetery with Father Joshua Guillory as celebrant.
Mr. Fontenot was the owner and operator of Fontenots Barber Shop in Shreveport for over 40 years. He is a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Army. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his family.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years Lou Ella Soileau Fontenot of Bossier City, three sons John Richard Fontenot and wife Mary of Bossier City, Steve Deville of Doylin, and Brady Deville of Bossier City, two daughters Susan Nell Fontenot of Broussard and Patricia Rachal and husband Calvin of Stonewall, Louisiana, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He now rests in heaven with his parents Lawrence and Agnes Fontenot and his sister Helen Jane Fontenot Chautin.
Pallbearers for the service include Scott Duff, Scott Chautin, Josh Fontenot, Jeremy Fontenot, Jim Buchwald, and Ted Johnson. Calvin Rachal will serve as honorary pallbearer.
At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home in Ville Platte beginning Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM and continuing until time of service on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited in his honor at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening.
