VILLE PLATTE- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jimmie Fontenot, 80, announces his passing at his residence in Ville Platte on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 2, 1015 at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church at 12 PM. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Father Mitch Guidry as celebrant.
Mr. Fontenot was the former owner of Frank Fontenot Sausage Kitchen and Meat Market. After moving to Ville Platte from Lanseauxpaille in 1946, Jimmie took over his father's business at a very early age.
A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Jimmie will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Norma "Jeanie" Davenport Fontenot of Ville Platte, son, Jimmy Fontenot, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Ville Platte, daughters, Deborah Fontenot of Lafayette, Melanie LaFleur and husband Tony of Ville Platte and sister, Ruth Ella Fontenot of Ville Platte. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Edia Sonnier Fontenot.
At the request of the Fontenot family, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 4 PM-10 PM and again on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 8 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in Mr. Fontenot honor on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 6 PM.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte, La.
