Jennifer Ann Ortego

Jennifer "Taunt Jenny" Ortego, a beloved member of the Ville Platte community, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 70.  Jenny was born on Saturday, November 7, 1953, in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Marius and Theresa Tate Ortego and was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte.  She attended USL and earned a degree in education and later went on to work as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte. Jenny's dedication to her profession and her community was evident throughout her life.

In her leisure time, Jenny found joy in various activities such as bowling, playing cards, dining out with friends, and cooking. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she always had a gift for giving to others. Family meant the world to Jenny, and she cherished every opportunity to visit and spend time with them.

Jenny is survived by her three loving sisters, Linda Vizena, Suzanne Soileau and husband, Bruce, and Kim White and Lawrence ”Cat”; nieces and nephews, Mariecha Joubert, Shelly Vizena, Joseph Vizena, Annie-Katherine Ajlani, Beau Soileau, Kayla Israel, Christopher Israel, and Kylie Israel Phillips; as well as twelve great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marius and Theresa Tate Ortego; nephew, Corey Dean Israel; and brother-in-law, Dallas Wayne Vizena.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. The service will be an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together in remembrance of Jenny's remarkable life.

With her kind heart and affectionate spirit, Jennifer "Taunt Jenny" Ortego touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
