VILLE PLATTE – Jeanette Guillory, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adored grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 83. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Platin Cemetery.
She dedicated numerous years to Vidrine High School where she took on various roles – from assisting in the cafeteria to helping as a French Teachers-aid, filling in as a substitute teacher in classrooms, and aiding young minds from 1st to 3rd grade as a devoted teachers' assistant. Her tenure at the school was not merely a profession but a true vocation; every moment spent with the students and colleagues held a special place in her heart until her well-earned retirement. Her dedication to Vidrine High School and time spent as a CNA at Savoy Care Center in Mamou exemplified her selfless nature.
Jeanette’s boundless care for others was often spent nurturing those around her and sharing her treasured recipe collections while recounting captivating stories of bygone days. Her kitchen exuded warmth where she found joy in preparing meals for her family. Whether it was a simple birthday gathering or a festive holiday meal, Jeanette's culinary delights never failed to bring joy and comfort to all who gathered at her table.
In the hearts of those who were privileged to know her well, Jeanette leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she held close. For 63 years, she shared an unbreakable bond with Darnell Ray Guillory; their enduring love story remains an inspiration to all who were touched by their connection.
Jeanette's love for LSU Tigers was unwavering and symbolized her loyalty and passion in all aspects of life.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Darnell Ray Guillory; her daughters, Lisa and husband, Mark Deshotels, and Dana Guillory; her grand-children, Ashlyn and husband, Trent Ortego, Kaleb Deshotels and wife, Erin, Brandon Baquet, Ben Baquet and wife, Kaitlyn; and her great-grandchildren, Alina Jolie Ortego, Sophie Belle Baquet, Jacques Mathieu Baquet, Elodie Sabine Baquet and Addilyn Marie Baquet. Also left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Cressie Landreneau, Lucille Lawrence, Barbara Kelly and Leatrice Tilley.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Aline Campbell; her sister, Geraldine Campbell; and her brothers, Rosevelt Campbell and Howard Campbell.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mercy Regional Hospital and Prairie Manor Nursing Home for the care they provided for their loved one.
