­­­VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Vile Platte on Monday, December 2, 2019, for James E. Marcantel, Sr., 70, who passed away of Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Ville Platte.

Father Mitch Guidry, pastor of Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

James E. Marcantel, Sr. was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on June 19, 1949 to Joseph Burley Marcantel and Ruby Mae Marcantel Ebarb.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marines.  James worked as a mechanic at the Ville Platte City Barn and was a cook for Global Marine Offshore Company.  James always loved to help people and was able to help many as a mental health counselor at New Beginings.  He will be greatly missed by all.

James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosalie Marcantel; his son, Jimmi P. Marcantel, Jr. of Ville Platte; two daughters, Susan A. Ardoin and husband, Kevin of Pine Prairie and Patricia A. Marcantel of Oberlin; six grandchildren, Taylor Ardoin, Ashley Ardoin, Payton Marcantel, Sawyer Ardoin, Garrett Marcantel and Gage Ardoin; two great grandchildren, Baylee and Jackson Ardoin; his sister, Jewel Johnson and husband, Randy of Pineland, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Burley Marcantel and Ruby Mae Marcantel Ebarb; four brothers, Richard, Barney, Danny and Eddie Marcantel and his sister, Beverly Osborn.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Monday, December 2 at 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, led by Deacon Gene LeBouef.
