VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 for Jack “Jackie” N. LaTour, 85, who passed away on October 25, 2019 in Ville Platte.
Father Blake Dubroc will be celebrant and Father Tom Voorhies will be Homilists for the mass.
Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Jack N. LaTour was born in Ville Platte on March 19, 1934 to Joe and Liseau Vidrine LaTour. He married Faye Ortego in 1954 and together they raised six children in a loving Catholic family. He loved to cook and enjoyed teaching his new bride to cook alongside him. Jack’s rice dressing was always a family favorite. Jack and Faye were parishioners of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church parish where Jack was once a school board member of Sacred Heart School. Jack was a barber at Arnaud’s Barber Shop and later worked at Cabot Corporation in Ville Platte until his retirement. Jack loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting squirrels and ducks. He also enjoyed fishing, purple martin birdhouses and gardening. Jack was a big fan of both the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. Whether his teams were winning or losing, he was cheering them on. “Jackie”, as he was known by many, was a great family man and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Faye Ortego LaTour, three daughters, Lynette Roberie and husband Kim, Lisa Saucier and husband Curt, and Beth Fontenot and husband Tony; three sons Jay LaTour and wife Telia, Mark LaTour, and Benjamin LaTour and wife Crysti; and 13 grandchildren, Morgan Singer, Danielle Jenkins, Kelli Caswell, Nicholas Saucier, Kyle Saucier, Adam Saucier, Derrick Fontenot, Brooke Walsh, Jonathan Fontenot, Tyer LaTour, Shelbey LaTour, Emery LaTour, and Ellis LaTour. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his 17 great grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Liseau Vidrine LaTour and his brothers and sisters, Garic LaTour, Howard LaTour, Bill LaTour, Nettie Lafleur, P. J. LaTour, Amy Burnett, Mary Robertson, Helen Pierrotti, Gerry Keller, and Delores Elston.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM and will be led by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
